Мary Plato Nova portrait - Very Private Gallery past resident

Mary Plato Nova

Born in Belarus, raised in Crimea, she fled to Spain amid political and social uncertainty. She graduated from the Philological Faculty of BSU in Minsk. While she loves literature, she now uses visual tools for her work. She now lives in Madrid.
Her work focuses on minimalism and simplicity. She believes small actions can lead to change. Through clean, simple visuals, she aims to trigger associations in viewers. Her goal is to depict subjective experience and guide people through it, awakening them to themselves and helping them recognize another person’s pain.

Mary Plato Nova was in residence at Very Private Gallery in November 2023.
